The duo has signed up Nowra Library’s Great Intergenerational Bake Off on Thursday, October 27.
The event will be held in celebration of Grandparent’s Day and Nowra Library is looking for five senior and junior cooks to share their recipes and skills with others.
Dale and 11-year-old Josh both enjoy cooking together at home and said they’re looking forward to a bit of friendly competition.
“We love cooking, we love entertaining, we love eating so we thought we’d participate in this great idea the library has actually asked us to do,” Dale said.
Each entrant in the bake off will be given a $20 budget to create a delicious treat for everyone to taste.
The audience will judge the competition, with the winner taking home a prize to the value of $200.
While he’s keeping their planned recipe under wraps, Josh said his starring sweet treat so far has been chocolate ganache biscuits.
“I took an original recipe and made it a bit different. The original one didn’t have enough butter,” he said.
“Now my uncles having been putting in orders from Sydney.”
Regardless of whether the pair take home the golden spoon, it’ll be a sweet celebration for Josh.
“It’s my birthday that day so it’ll be something fun,” he said.
All recipes from the NSW Government funded event will be available on the Shoalhaven Libraries Facebook page.
