Around 200 cars and a number of motorbikes are expected to be on display at the fifth annual Albatross Show-N-Shine on Sunday, October 23.
The show will be held on Tom Smith Oval at Albatross, adjacent to the at the Fleet Air Arm Museum.
After a year’s break, with the 2015 event cancelled due to the major development works in progress at HMAS Albatross including near the FAA Museum, the event is back.
Organiser Stu Walters is looking forward to another big family orientated event.
“Interest has been steady in this year’s event,” he said.
“We have two weeks to go before the show and I’m hoping we will top the 200 car mark.
“We have also had a lot of motorbikes entered. Traditionally we also get a lot of entries on the day, as car owners wait to see what the weather does.”
Once again the event will support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the Australian Leukodystrophy Support Group Inc (ALDS).
The show also coincides with the same weekend as the Shoalhaven River Festival.
“Hopefully it can be a win, win for both events,” Mr Walters said.
“Hopefully people come down to the River Festival with its parade and river activities on the Saturday and then stay around and come to the show-n-shine on the Sunday and catch the rest of the festival events.”
The show-n-shine is an alcohol free event and will also feature live entertainment from Blue Tongue as well as other family fun entertainment.
“We will again be having the jumping castle for the kids and the popular spark plug challenge,” he said.
Among the wide array of stunning cars on show includes Daniel Hildebrandt’s 1966 Mustang Coupe, Matt Henry’s FPV Ford Typhoon F6 and Jayden Bascunan’s Toyota 86 GTS.
The South Coast Chapter of the Veterans Motorcycle Club will again support the event, with president Danny “DK” Kennedy with his 2016 Street Glide Special, Terry “Tezza” Greenhill’s 2014 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail and Marc “Smutley” Hutley’s 2010 Harley Davidson Fat Bob.
Gates open at 8am for entrants. Spectator admission is from 10am and the show will run through until 2.30pm.
Entrant registration is $15 (pre-registration) or $20 (on the day gate entry). Both fees include entry.
Spectator admission is by gold coin donation.
