Traffic lights were installed at the Hume Motorway-Picton Road intersection to improve safety – but they didn’t seem to matter for one driver.

In footage posted to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page, a queue of cars on the southbound exit ramp of the motorway get the green light and start to turn right.
A 4WD towing a caravan heads through the intersection first, followed by three other cars.
Suddenly, from the right comes a silver sedan that shows no sign of stopping – even though there are cars in front of it turning right on a green light.
The car continues on and doesn’t appear to slow down at all until it hits another 4WD turning right.
The accident happened just six months after Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) installed lights at the intersection to prevent crashes like this.
RMS said there was a “significant crash history” at the intersection.
Between January 2009 and December 2013 there had been 45 serious crashes at the intersection, with the ramps joining Picton Road being of particular concern.
“There has been one crash at this location since the lights were installed,” an RMS spokesman said.
“The new traffic lights are being monitored however no changes to the lights or the road configuration have been deemed necessary to date.”
