The ride will see around 10 complete the cycling journey from Melbourne to Nowra to raise funds for 26-year-old Nowra woman Laura Boyd.
Laura suffered a stroke in 2007 and Matt Bryant from BaiMed Physiotherapy and Laura’s physio Brady Warren have teamed up to raise money to buy items that will help open Laura’s world.
On the wish list is a collapsible lifter to make travelling with her family easier, roof racks and a basket and a beach wheelchair.
Ride4Laura will kick off on Saturday, November 12 and arrive in Nowra on November 20.
The ride will skirt around the Victorian high country, through the snowy mountains with a total distance of over 1,000km and 12,000m of climbing.
While he expects the eight day journey will be a challenge, Matt it’s the fifth day that will be the real test.
“That’s when we’re riding through the back of the Snowy Mountains and that’s a 3000 metre climb so that’s a bit scary,” he said.
“We’re amateurs cyclists but we’ve been doing a bit of training.”
