Nowra Christian School held a Compassion Fair on Wednesday to raise money for children the school sponsor in Central America and Operation Christmas Child.

The school grounds were a hive of activity with stalls, sausage sizzle, pony rides, jumping castle and kids games.
Year 10 student Jasmine Dickinson from the Student Representative Council was one of the fair organisers.
“We’re having a great day. We’ve got so many different events, food galore, so much food, so many activities, the weather has held off which is really good, such a blessing,” she said.
“Our school sponsors two compassion children who live in Central America, we’re are raising money to help them out. They will use it for schooling, uniforms, food and housing.
“Their family basically make no living over there. What we do for them is always so appreciated.”
Nowra Christian School holds the fair every two years with all the profits from the event going to Jayling 15 and Josue 14, and their families who live in Nicaragua, Central America.
Head of secondary Evelyn Meek said the idea was to run a student led event.
“We’re really really proud of the kids, because they are the ones who organised this today,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity for them to be able to use their leadership skills to do that. They have pulled everything together and they’ve done a really good job, we’ve just basically guided them.”
