Exotic tastes will not be disappointed with this new cook book from Caroline Eden and Eleanor Ford.

Exotic tastes will not be disappointed with this new cook book from Caroline Eden and Eleanor Ford.

Authors Caroline Eden and Eleanor Ford have created a veritable treasure chest of delicious recipes from one of the most foreign and ancient of places – the Silk Road.

While the recipes are certainly exotic, they are not too fiddly and include pomegranate soup and beef shashik with tahini and pistachio sauce.

Over hundreds of years, various ethnic groups have passed through this city, sharing and influencing each other's cuisine and leaving their culinary stamp.

Samarkand is a love letter to Central Asia and the Caucasus, containing travel essays, beautiful photography and recipes that are little known in the West that have been expertly adapted for the home cook.

This is one for the adventurous home cook who wants to extend their range, and perhaps even indulge in a bit of armchair travelling.
