Joshua (11) capped off an outstanding year with the under 12 division one Hawks taking gold in an undefeated Southern Junior league season. They were also gold medallists in the NSW Country Tournament, dropping only one game, before topping it all off recently, being crowned division one NSW State Champions, with their third gold medal for the year.
“I think I had a pretty good year, as we had an awesome team with a great coach and I learnt so much more this year, especially on my defence,” Joshua said.
“My personal highlight was the state championships gold medal, as my coach gave me the job on shutting down a kid from Bankstown about eight inches taller than me and I think I made a pretty good effort of it.
Another highlight in Joshua’s season was the announcement of selection in the NSW Country Jamboree to be held in Tamworth during the September school holidays.
Gavin (15) had similar results taking gold in an undefeated Country Premier League season. They were also undefeated gold medallists in the NSW Country Premier Tournament. A late hiccup in the season saw them lose their only two games of the season to be bundled out of the NSW State Championships, eventually finishing in fifth position. Other highlights in Gavin’s year included NITP selection, NSW Country Tour selection, NSW Country u16 State side that competed at Nationals in Kilsyth, Victoria and most recently selection in BNSW D-League, which commences in October.
“I think the year went well and I would rate the year as probably one of the best years I’ve had to date<” Gavin said.
”The highlight for me was definitely representing the state in the NSW Country u16 Team at Nationals. It was something I had worked hard to achieve and had great pride in pulling on the singlet.”
