That's how Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull describes his first year in power. It's been a year of "great achievement" and Australians can feel the "palpable" benefits of his government's economic leadership, he said.

Despite his tenuous hold on the Parliament after the Coalition's poor election result, internal divisions over everything from superannuation to free speech and his waning personal popularity, Mr Turnbull says he will be "celebrating" Wednesday's one-year anniversary of his knifing of Tony Abbott.

"It has been a year of considerable progress and considerable achievement," he said on the sidelines of the Pacific Islands Forum in Micronesia.

While the reviews of Mr Turnbull's first year in power have been negative - with pundits criticising his indecisiveness and failure to stand up to his party's conservative wing - he says he's done a great deal.

He cites his innovation statement, the Defence White Paper and his plan to clean up the building industry.

He also points to tax reform, the superannuation proposals, business tax cuts and a youth employment scheme known as PaTH.

"The score is on the scoreboard. We've got strong economic growth, our economy is going well, jobs are being created," he said.

"Our economic performance is the envy of most of those countries around the G20 table. There are very few developed nations that have economic performance as strong as Australia's.

"It has been a year of great achievement, of real economic growth that Australians can feel. They can see it, it's palpable.

"So far so good. But there's a lot more work to do."

Mr Turnbull has just concluded a week-long overseas trip during which he attended the G20 meeting in China and the East Asia Summit in Laos before heading to Micronesia. He returns to Australia on Saturday night.
