The Bendigo Bank Night Sky Cinema will be held Saturday, September 17 and will follow the school’s motto of ‘Reach for the Sky’.
Gates will open at Illaroo Public School at 4pm and the event will kick off with lucky door prizes and mini fete stalls run by students, staff and members of the P&C.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the afternoon with performances by school bands and dance troupes and some talented individual performers at ‘Buskers Corner’.
Visitors can follow their noses to delicious food and drink stalls before finding a spot for their picnic blanket under the stars to watch a special outdoor presentation of ‘Inside Out’ on the big screen.
There will be plenty to do throughout the afternoon with face painting, a jumping castle and guessing competitions as well as the opportunity to make memories with your friends and family at the photo booth.
Illaroo Road vice principal, Bob Lowe will be putting himself on the line for the sponge throwing competition.
There’ll be no shortage of choice for dinner, with a picnic dinner under the big screen featuring hot roast rolls, soup, gourmet hot dogs, as well as vegetarian and gluten free options.
No outdoor cinema picnic would be complete without a visit to the snack stalls and coffee and ice cream carts so make sure you don’t miss the treats on offer.
A major raffle prize will also be won on the night.
“This is a new initiative for Illaroo Road and the P&C is revelling in the opportunity to bring the school and wider community together for what should a good old fashioned night out,” principal Graham Tink said.
“Not only will it be a great night of entertainment for all the family, it will be an opportunity for students to showcase their talents in the performing arts. Our students love performing in band, dance, choir and a wide variety of individual items.”
Mr Tink thanked the P&C for organising the event and encouraged everyone to attend.
Tickets are $12 each and will be sold at the Illaroo Public School office. Tickets will also be available at the gate.
