Dairy cattle breeders from across the state hit the road and headed to Nowra Showground for an elite Holstein sale on Friday before the state competition kicked off on Saturday morning.
Canadian dairy cattle judge Joel Phoenix said exhibitors delivered quality cattle to the show ring one class after another.
“It was a really good show, I was impressed with the quality all the way through,” he said.
“The heifer show was really nice and then it followed right through with the intermediate and senior cows.
“There’s a lot of cattle here who could show in North America.”
Nowra breeders dominated the champion ranks taking out three of the four coveted prizes.
The Walsh family from Jaspers Brush claimed youth junior show champion with 'Waljasper Sid Suzette' as well as open show junior champion with 'Waljasper Byway Lola'.
Natalie and Tim Cochrane’s 'Eagle Park Goldchip Hezitall' took out intermediate champion cow to a loud applause from the crowd.
“It felt amazing,” Mrs Cochrane said.
“It felt like I'd been rewarded for putting in all this effort everyday, it was also a group effort for team Eagle Park.
“We are still remembering the moment of being tapped intermediate champion it's something I've always wanted to win and it was a day we will never forget.
Eagle Park Goldchip Hezitall’s next show will be in Victoria at International Dairy Week in January.
South Coast and Tablelands Holstein branch president Paul Condon could not have been happier with the day.
“It’s been a tremendous show and greatly supported by the crowd of people who have come here today in picture perfect weather,” he said.
“The quality of cattle was outstanding, and they could stand up anywhere in the world and get placed.
“There has been a lot of planning and it all came to fruition today. I’m very happy with the results.”

Holstein calf tops sale at $12,000
Strong national cattle prices and quality stud stock combined to produce an outstanding result for the Elite Holstein Sale held in conjunction with the 2016 NSW State Holstein Show.
Lot 6 'Gorbro Shimmers Doorman' was the top price heifer of the night, bringing $12,000 for Victorian breeders AK & JR Gordon, after she was knocked down to Miss Shayne Gee of Jerry’s Plains in the Hunter Region.
The six-month old heifer was out of ‘Gorbro Sanchez O Shimmer’ who went on to claim reserve senior champion cow in the following day of competition.
Elders Livestock auctioneer Lindsay Moxey said the sale was a resounding success.
“An outstanding quality line of cattle were offered tonight, I was really happy with the sale,” he said.
‘There were lots of buyers, they’ve gone far and wide, right across the country.
The 22 stud cattle grossed $133,000 with an average sale price of $6,055.
“Quality animals always sell and the depth of pedigree in these heifers was outstanding,” Mr Moxey said.
“The buyers were here to buy them, they really wanted to buy good quality genetics that were backed by generations of great cow families.”
