Last Saturday saw the first grade Bomaderry Tigers AFL side travel to Jock Brown Oval to take on Shellharbour.
While the wind and conditions weren’t exactly great, the Tigers would be pretty disappointed with what they dished up, going down by eight goals in a game that could have almost guaranteed them a spot in the finals.
Still full credit to the Suns.
They were hungrier and certainly played the conditions much better.
Whilst Bomaderry struggled to find the goals, the Suns on the other hand, couldn’t miss.
It was disappointing to lose, but better that we have a bad day out last weekend rather than this week when the result spells the end for the loser.
Just hope we can quickly find the form that has gotten us into this position.
With a big week on the training track and one or two players likely to return, we will be looking to tighten our defence and function better in attack, otherwise it could be curtains for 2016.
In a game where not many players could say they had a good game, the Tigers were best served by Tim Hanlon in the ruck.
Matt Ganderton tried hard in the midfield, as did Tyler Dunstan, whilst down back, things might have been a lot worse had it not been for the efforts of Jeremy O’Byrne, Andrew Lee and Lachlan Jackman.
Final Score: Bomaderry 6-10: 46 Shellharbour 15-4: 94
Goal kickers: P. Cowan 2, M. Ganderton 2, J. Green & K. Russell 1 goal each.
This weekend the Tigers host the Division 2 Qualifying Final between Ulladulla and the Bulldogs at 12 noon followed by the last round clash between Bomaderry and Figtree to see who goes through to the Division 1 semi’s next week.
Should be to fairly entertaining games and whilst I don’t really care who wins the first game, it would be nice to get a good roll up to support the boys.
Match day awards and the badge draw will be held in the clubrooms shortly after first grade, so stick around for a few beers and check out our new TV.
