Volunteers will be selling pens, pins and Legacy bears at locations throughout the Shoalhaven.
Last year’s Legacy Week fundraising effort topped $26,000 for the first time.
This year’s fundraiser is off to a good start with Bomaderry Bowling Club purchasing a $500 badge.
When Nowra Legacy Group badge co-ordinator John Creasey joined the organisation 10 years ago there were 600 legatees, now there are about 300 locally.
“Nowra Legacy has 60 volunteers who will be helping to sell our badges throughout the week. The Nowra Torchbearers For Legacy will also be out and about raising money,” Mr Creasey said.
Funds raised help Legacy to assist about 80,000 widows and 1,800 children Australia-wide, with counselling, special housing, medical, advocacy and social support.
