Consider yourself invited to Shoalhaven Shark Tank on Tuesday August 2 at the Nowra School of Arts at noon.
On the back of last year’s successful event, 30 businesses have signed up this year to donate money and goods to help ease the region’s homelessness problem.
Organiser Penni Wildi from Southern Cross Community Housing was pleased with the strong response from the Shoalhaven business community.
“We have the businesses on board, 15 of which also took part last year,” she said.
“Now we need the rest of the community to come and be a part of the audience.”
The format for the event involves people from organisations that provide assistance to homeless people pitching their needs to the businesses on the panel.
Last year in three hours the Shoalhaven business community donated more than $35,350, offered goods and services, as well as a number of priceless experiences including a job for one homeless man.
Ms Wildi said the businesses had been quick to sign up with many offering to be placed in any financial category that needed help.
“There are four categories; up to $250, $250 to $500, $500 to $1000 and $1000 and above.
“We have also had a lot of donations including Mayor Joanna Gash and council who paid for the hiring of the Nowra School of Arts, one of our sharks from last year is supplying photography on the day and the CWA is doing the catering,” she said.
