However, this is what happened to a group of Kangaroo Valley residents who were given a nasty surprise recently.
A tar and diesel sludgy mess, from a nearby work site, had been dumped right near a popular walkway close to the showground.
Everyone, like the people with their dogs, that walked in the mess got the sludge all over their feet and wanted to know who was responsible for the mess?
In a few hours they had their answers and happily watched as a clean up took place.
The person who left the sludge came back and went out of his way to clean the mess up
He even came back in afternoon to clean the dog’s feet which had tar on them.
He was apologetic and a site foreman also came to the look at the spill, apologised and offered further help if needed
“They have certainly made a decent effort to fix the situation,” a local resident said.
“While cleaning the dog’s feet the poor guy told me that a sprayer had blocked and he had to blow it out to clear it and in the dark he thought he had picked an out of the way safe place to do it.
“He even went back over to Nowra to buy dog shampoo, baby oil and a comb to clean up the dog and a mower to finish off the grass.
“I must say that I really appreciate the care that he took to clean up the whole problem and feel that he did a good and thorough job.”
