Bronwen Lewis, P&C President, described the day as a ‘huge success’.
“It was a success that was made possible by the enthusiasm of the students, families, and teachers involved,” she said.
“The children, and plenty of parents, jogged around the back oval. Being bombarded with flurries of coloured powder at the end of each lap had them coming back for more. A path through the bush bike track and around the back oval gave plenty of opportunity to enjoy the day.”
Close to half the school came out to support for the school community. Families stayed afterward to enjoy a picnic together and relax in the sun. A P&C run sausage sizzle and hot drinks provided by a local coffee van were popular additions.
Organised by the P&C, $2000 was raised. The funds will contribute to the purchase of a new sound system for the school hall along with other classroom resources.
School principal Julie Ashby said she was thrilled with the turnout.
“The strength of our school community and commitment to having fun was evident on the day,” she said.
“It was wonderful to see students enjoying our lovely school grounds and having a fantastic time.”
The school community is looking forward to another day of fun and colour at the 2017 North Nowra Public School Colour Run.
