I've been staring at a blank page for some time now trying to think of something to write, something that will get you excited, get the heart pumping.
Something that stirs the mind and gets you thinking about your safety, security and the health and well-being of our community. But I can’t so you will have to read this instead.
It’s Election Day on Saturday and every man, woman and child will be out at the polling booths putting lots of ticks in lots of boxes.
This also means that there will be a lot of traffic around our back streets that normally would not be there. So I am urging everyone who drives, be careful of the back roads.
You’ve seen the commercial on TV and it’s pretty clear. Slow down on the back roads, tragedy strikes swiftly and it doesn’t care if your man, woman or child, old or young. You cannot outrun tragedy even if you are a fast runner.
I certainly cannot out run it because of my osteoarthritis. Therefore we must avoid tragedy by slowing down on the road, reduce distractions, stay off the mobile phone and strap the kids in. Remember;
If you speed around the back roads you will see….that your actions could only end in trag- ed- y.
Also its NAIDOC Week next week, keep an eye on the festivities, I’ll be around the place with the Police bus. If you see it come over and say hello. You never know, you may get a free key ring or a drink coaster which was left over from the dob in a dealer campaign. Until next week, farewell.
