In 2016, president Wendy Woodward introduced the President’s Award, aimed at rewarding local schools whose students had entries in the show.
Each entry is worth a point, with the school with the highest total winning the award.
This year Bomaderry High took out the high school section and St Michael’s Catholic the primary section.
Mrs Woodward presented both schools with their trophies and $100 prizemoney during a special afternoon tea at the Nowra Showground committee rooms.
“The awards are aimed at getting more young people, and in particular schools involved in the show,” Mrs Woodward said.
She said she would also possibly like to see the award expanded further to include the many young people who act as stewards for various sections during the annual two-day event.
“Every young person who plays a part in the show should be rewarded,” she said.
“Be it for entering items or working.
“We want to encourage young people to get involved with the show society, so they can see what the show is all about.
“We want them to be able to enjoy the show and have fun at the same time.”
Next year’s 141st Nowra Show is shaping up to be a great event.
“We have a fantastic site in a wonderful part of the world,” she said.
“It is fabulous and to ensure it remains a community facility we need to make sure the show is a success.”
Next Generation Nowra, or NGN, has also been launched aimed at the 18 to 35 year age groups to get them back involved with the organisation and the show.
