An ongoing corruption inquiry into the planning decisions of Auburn council turned its attention to Mr Mehajer's famous wedding.

Specifically, Mr Mehajer was questioned how his entourage was allowed to land four helicopters on a council oval and block a street with a procession of luxury vehicles that has been valued at $50 million.

Part of Mr Mehajer's application for a wedding procession down one lane of the street included a request for permission to shoot a "feature film". Mr Mehajer was later fined $220 after his entourage was found to have exceeded their permit to only partially close the street.

"A feature film? That's The Godfather or Apocalypse Now," counsel assisting the inquiry, Paul Bolster said.

But Mr Mehajer replied that he was staging "my own feature film, I guess".

"The trailer goes for 45 seconds," he said. "It's just a term that they use, it can have many meanings …"

The inquiry also heard the wedding party had only been granted permission to arrive in one helicopter on the council's Phillips Oval, but four helicopters arrived.

Mr Mehajer admitted that "greater than one [helicopter] was the plan".

"Four was limited by the space we had," he said.

But Mr Mehajer said day-to-day organisation of the helicopters was not in his hands.

He also said he was unaware residents were complaining about the de facto closure of Francis Street until after his wedding.

Earlier, Mr Mehajer denied that he had voted for a controversial Berala town centre rezoning because it would have benefited his colleague, ex-councillor Hicham Zraika.

Mr Bolster suggested it made "no sense" to extend the town centre to an area encompassing a house owned by Mr Zraika on York Street "unless you had some other reason".

Mr Mehajer denied this. "Absolutely not," he said. "What benefit could he get from a single house?"

He also denied a desire to secure a controversial car park sale was the reason he joined the council to begin with, noting he had previously contested elections at the state level.

Fairfax Media revealed in January that the council voted to sell Mr Mehajer a car park for $8.5 million despite a rival valuation firm suggesting it was worth $13 million.

After the project ran late in 2012, the council voted against extending the deal.

But it later voted for it after Mr Mehajer joined the council.

Mr Mehajer and other councillors have denied those two facts were connected.

Ned Attie, a former councillor, noted under examination from his lawyer that the more generous valuation by development giant CBRE may have not accounted for limitations on the access to the site, which may have diminished its value.

In the end, the car park deal was scotched when an administrator, Viv May, was placed in charge of the sacked council and reviewed a number of its decisions.

Mr Mehajer denied his business relationship with Ms Le Lam, a former councillor, caused her to be an early supporter of the car park deal.

Ms Lam's company managed strata contracts on Mehajer family developments. But he said he had not dealt with Ms Lam but her brother-in-law, Minh Hua.

He said he had not realised the two were related until "recently".

Mr Mehajer took exception to a suggestion that because Ms Lam had also worked for his father, she had been associated with the family business, which had been responsible for his own success in the business world.

"That's incorrect," he said. "[My father] made a small contribution, 90 per cent of my success is myself."
