This year has been a unique year in the history of the Zonta Club of Berry, as we sponsored and chartered a new Zonta club in Goulburn.

Our immediate Past President, Jean Dally, was largely instrumental in the creation of the club, and she was ably assisted by members of our club, and residents of Goulburn and the surrounding areas.
On Saturday, May 14, this latest member in the worldwide Zonta club family was officially welcomed and celebrated. The Charter Diner was held in Goulburn with guest speakers The Hon. Pru Goward MP Member for Goulburn and Mayor Geoff Kettle.
Our work as a club during the year has been varied. One of our newer members, Mary Jo, decided that our sale of used books should be more widely spread among the community, rather than being restricted to our club members.
So each month she sets up a stand in Berry, and cajoles and bullies passers-by to buy books they didn't know they needed or wanted.
The considerable profits Mary Jo has accumulated through her efforts are earmarked for the support of the Shoalhaven Education Fund's work with young women who need financial help to extend their education.
The club was proudly represented at Berry’s 2016 Anzac Day March and memorial service and a wreath laid on behalf of the members.
The support of the Nowra women's refuge is ongoing. A most successful Trivia night raised funds for our Birthing Kit project; we took part in a White Ribbon Day celebration in Nowra, and held an International Women's Day breakfast and a Pre-loved clothing sale.
The choir sang at several nursing homes, and in the Berry Merry Christmas evening.
At the Zonta Club of Berry AGM on May 24 we farewelled the outgoing committee and embraced the new year and welcomed a new Committee.
Inducted were president Robyn Prowse, president elect Rosalie Fletcher, director organisation, Membership and Classification Leonie Winlow, Director of Service Trudi Voowinden and Director of Advocacy Todd Adams. Treasurer is Mary Seelis and secretary is Karen Davison. Huge thanks to the outgoing committee for a year of commitment and enthusiasm.
As we start another Zonta year we give a warm welcome to our three new members. Tonya Goode, Karen Davison and Nina Bucci.
