Between them they have put in around 800 plants on a dune constructed from sand reclaimed from the Lake Conjola dredging project.
The Mollymook members planted scores of spinifex seeds on the dunes after half a dozen Green Army volunteers planted acacias and other suitable species collected from 300 cuttings from flora in the area.
The Mollymook group then rigged hoses and took care of watering everything.
The dune, a council-approved bushcare plan is part of a project to protect adjacent property and buildings.
A section of rock training wall north of Blackwater Creek now covered with soil, and sand dredged from Conjola, protects the sewer pumping station, road and properties to the north.
Isabelle Ghetti from Shoalhaven Council said in the absence of the training wall, during storms the creek could break out to the north as it had done in the past, making the impacts of coastal erosion much worse for the area.
The continuing brief for the dune crew is to maintain the area to ensure plants establish and are not taken over by weeds.
