The Red Shield Appeal was held on the weekend and over $20 000 was raised and more donations will come in.
Lieutenant Matthew Sutcliffe said the Salvation Army would like to thank the local community.
“We could not be happier and the community really dug deep,” Lt Sutcliffe said.
Lt Sutcliffe said he was confident the tally will pass the the $25 000 mark.
“There is still opportunities to give and some door-knocking is still taking place,” he said.
People can text Shoalhaven to 1999 2769 to donate $5 per sms and a $5 donation charge will appear on your mobile bill or usage history and this is available on all eligible plans, except Optus prepaid.
