A WOLLONGONG woman who allegedly stole a car from a disabled car parking space at a Bomaderry supermarket and was arrested at the South Nowra jail has been refused bail.

Angela Smith, 24, of McKenzie Street, appeared before Magistrate Michael Stoddart in Nowra Local Court on Monday charged with shoplifting, take and drive a conveyance and drive while license suspended.
Police evidence said about 10.30am Saturday, May 28 a car was left parked in the disabled parking spot at a supermarket in Meroo Road, Bomaderry while the owner’s wife who suffers from dementia went inside to do some shopping.
The owner had to leave the vehicle for a short time and left the car unlocked in case his wife returned.
Police allege Smith took the car and drove off but prior to that stole $50 worth of items including flavoured milk and bakery items from the Bomaderry IGA Supermarket.
She was captured on CCTV wearing a distinctive pink jumpsuit, black jacket and carrying a leopard print handbag.
About 1.45pm in the afternoon police were informed Smith was visiting the South Coast Correctional Facility at South Nowra, and found her wearing the same clothes.
She was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station where she was charged and refused bail.
Magistrate Stoddart again refused bail on Monday and remanded her in custody to appear in Port Kembla Local Court on June 15.
