The Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), this week, reduced the speed limit on Sussex Inlet Road from 100 km/h to 80 km/h.
The RMS responded to concerns raised by local residents and also carried out a review.
The review found the 100 km/h speed limit was not appropriate for this section of road and the new the speed limit came in on Monday.
The RMS’s decision to reduce the speed limit was based on a number of factors, which included the road’s crash history, level of development and alignment of the road.
Sussex Inlet Road, in the past five years, has been the scene of 13 crashes, resulting in six people being injured.
RMS also consulted with Shoalhaven City Council and NSW Police as part of its review.
