No newcomer to racing, Kershaw previously completed two seasons in junior sedans, where he achieved his best result when he ran third in the 2013-14 season NSW Title.
Having now graduated from the class, he’s decided to take the next step and enter the exciting world of Formula 500s.
After a successful practice run at Nowra Speedway last weekend, the 17-year-old driver is looking forward to contesting his first race in the ACT # 15 East Coast Fire and Safety-backed Suzuki GSXR-powered Triple X machine.
“It was great to get behind the wheel last weekend,” said Kershaw.
“We’ve been fine-tuning the car and getting the feel of it for this Saturday night’s meeting and the practice run has definitely done the world of good for me heading into my debut race meeting.”
This Saturday night’s meeting will mark the final event on the 2015-16 calendar for Formula 500s in NSW, giving Kershaw the opportunity to test his car in a racing environment, before the off-season commences.
Following this race meeting, the East Coast Fire and Safety Motorsport team will be deep in preparation and hard at work to ensure he will be competitive in the 2016-17 season.
“NSW has a great history in Formula 500s,” added Kershaw, who regards Nowra Speedway as his home track,” he said.
“I’m really looking forward to racing at different tracks all over the state next season with a strong and talented field of drivers.”
