LAST Saturday saw the Bomaderry Tigers first grade side take on last year’s premiers, the Wollongong Bulldogs, at Keira Oval. The game opened at a frenetic pace with the Tigers attacking the footy and putting together some fantastic play. Quick movement and sticking to the game plan saw Jack Boxsell, Brent Herdman, Matt Tyler and Toby Craig dominate the centre and drive the ball forward.

The backline was constantly putting pressure on the Bulldogs forwards and with Andrew Lee, Christian Mills, Tom Hines, Matt Wyles, Lachlan Jackman and Jacob Wright leading the way, the Bulldogs had difficulty converting their scoring opportunities.
Trailling by 12 points at half-time, the third quarter saw the Tigers maintain the pressure outscoring the Dogs by two points in a really hard fought contest. Up forward, Phil Cowan, Matt Polman, Kel Russell, Ben Girling, Tyler Dunstan, and Tristan Craig were working hard and providing options. With less than two kicks separating the two teams, the Tigers were pumped for the run home, but with five players having already played a game, the opposition’s fitness and experience proved telling, with the Dogs going on to record a fairly comfortable win in the end. Final score was Bomaderry 7-2.44 to Bulldogs 11-17.83
Goalkickers were Mat Polman, Phil Cowan (two each), Jack Boxsell, Ben Girling and Tom Hines one each.

In reserve grade, Andrew Mazey starred, as did Jack Carter, Dale Lovatt, Luke Collier, Ben Trayling and Damian Spelta.
