Injury defers Southern match

May 26 2016 - 5:00pm

ON Sunday Southern Branch U17 girls travelled to Regents Park to take on Bankstown City FC. Most of the team had recovered from the recent bouts of illness. The girls had a few attempts on goal and were defending well. A lovely header from Jazmine Zabel kept Bankstown goalless and moments later, the game came to an abrupt halt in the 20th minute when one of Southern's defenders sustained a knee injury. Waiting quite some time for an ambulance resulted in the game being postponed to a later date. Score was 0-0. Coach Bruno, manager Nicole and the U17 team members wish Rosie Cockrem a speedy recovery. I'd like to express my gratitude to Bankstown City FC. The coaches, managers, referees and first aid staff were very supportive and understanding. This week the girls are at home against Sutherland Shire FA.
