Last Saturday saw the 1st Grade Tigers take on Kiama in what turned out to be a tale of two halves. Bomaderry jumped Kiama from the get go and kicked the first 3 goals and it looked like the Tigers were in for a great game.

With clean ball out of the centre thanks to Courtney Ward who was dominating the ruck, Matt Tyler, Sean Byrne, Jack Boxsell and Toby Craig moved the ball quickly and with precision to find Phil Cowan, Tom Hines, Brett Herdman and Lachlan Jackman who were presenting well and proving dangerous in attack.
The backline of Matt Polman, Jacob Wright, Matt Wyles and Nick McDonald were combining well in defence and with Kel Russell using his pace, the Tigers looked up to the challenge.
In the second half, Kiama went up a couple of gears and showed that they are going to be hard to beat. They shut down the Tigers, were constantly first to the ball and really made the most of their scoring opportunities to run away with the game.
Final score: Bomaderry 6-10: 46 Kiama 24-19: 163
Tigers Reserve grade travelled to Port Kembla and took the field with only 16 players, thanks to a number of late withdrawals which threw the team balance out a bit and put us under pressure right from the very start. Fortunately wayward kicking by Port Kembla kept the Tigers within reach at halftime with a difference of 20 points. Matthew Ganderton and Andrew Mazey were having great games, as were Tyler Dunstan, Jack Carter and Tyson Sue.
With Brad Corbett leaving the field with what looked like a major injury just before the halftime break, the boys rallied in the second half. Darren Gration, Daniel Pink, Chris McDonald and Richard Curran were constantly causing turnovers and using the ball to Bomaderry's advantage. Tristan Craig, Ben Trayling and Paul Stevenson continued to impress, whilst in the forward line, Matt Lawrence, Bevan Keys, Ryan Hiscox, and Mitch Hodgson were combining well. Bomaderry went agonisingly close to causing an upset going down by 7 points.
Final score: Bomaderry 7-1: 43 Port Kembla 6-14: 50
