Well this Saturday (May 7) you can.
The Nowra Croquet Club is taking part in World Croquet Day at its Bomaderry courts.
The day’s activities start at 10am and include a fun day of croquet, music, a plant sale, barbecue and more.
And best of all it’s free.
Nowra club captain Margaret Sawers said the day was designed to not only promote the sport but allow people to take to the lawns and try their hand at the game.
“It is a challenging sport and at times can be nasty,” Mrs Sawers said.
“It is a chance to exercise the brain as well as exercising the body.”
She said the day was open to anyone of any age, the only prerequisite was the wearing of flat soled shoes.
“It is the second annual World Croquet Day,” said club publicity officer Bob Williamson.
“It’s a great chance for us to expose the sport to the public.
“Come along and have some fun.”
Half court games will be set up on the club’s two lawns to allow you to experience the game.
There will be a music by NuKem, a local ukulele group, a sausage sizzle and plants propagated by member Len Muir will be for sale.
The Nowra Croquet Club’s World Croquet Club activities will be held from 10am to 3pm at the courts in Cambewarra Road, Bomaderry (adjacent to the Bomaderry pool).
Games are played at the Nowra Croquet Club six days a week most days from 9am.
