The pair took on dancers from around the region to win best Contemporary Duo/Trio in the 11 to 12 years of age category last month.
Maddy Allen said the win felt amazing.
“It felt really good because when we go to comps there is always good dancers. At Wollongong there were really good dancers,” she said.
“Another reason why it felt good was because we both know we work well together.”
Maddy admitted she felt a bit nervous before she took to the stage.
“Yes, we were but knowing that we had each other it made it a little bit easier,” she said.
Jessie said the pair spend a lot of hours together on the dance floor.
“It felt really good because Wollongong is always a tough competition,” she said.
“Side stage we were saying that the competitors before us were really good.”
According to SCIPA owner Nirvana James-Ricci the pair were rewarded for their commitment to dance.
“They are at the studio training four to five days a week,” she said.
“They listen to all feedback and work hard to apply and retain these. I would say they are responsible learners who really love dancing.”
She said the SCIPA staff were delighted for the girls and their win.
“It's a wonderful reflection on the quality dance training they receive at SCIPA and a great reward for the hours of training they put in at the studio,” she said.
“The girls love dancing their solo routines at these competitions but this duo is a very special win for them, they are the very best of friends and the theme of their dance is about friendships, so they really connected with this routine.”
