Bike laws flouted
In the Jervis Bay area I have noticed a definite reluctance by our local police to enforce the laws regarding cyclists, which are strictly enforced in larger centres.

Helmets, riding on the right side of the road, etc., seem to be optional here.
The police in our area do an outstanding and difficult job over a large area, so maybe this is not a priority - but it does seem to be a tad strange.

Election merry-go-round
At each election a new party gets in, well for the most part anyhow. The time comes when they are voted out. Why? Because they have created havoc, they had not done what they were supposed to. They were sacked by the voters. So by all accounts we have never had a party that continued to do a good job.
For a time the likes of Hawke and Howard were doing OK as they were both there a while. If they had done well continually either would still be in power. We would not have sacked them.
As time goes by the role at the top job has been shorter and shorter. The Liberal Party will be gone this time around. Labor will get the job but i am doubtful they will last more than a term.
What Australia now has is the most derelict lot of politicians I have seen in my 60 years. Just a lot of self righteous people trying to do a job and they really have no idea what is needed. I have resigned myself to the fact our once great country is no more and can never be again. And you know what? That is possibly one of the most saddest things I have seen in my life time.
How bloody cruel is that.

Don’t buy into land tax
On 25 November, 2014 Medibank was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) after 38 years of being a government business enterprise.
This little beauty was the incentive behind my private health insurance rising 4.57 per cent. The result – my private health cover now costs well over $5000 per annum.
It does not stop there.
My home contents and house insurance costs me over $5000 per year.
Now investment consultants and the real estate industry are calling for stamp duty payable on house sales to be scrapped in favour of the re-introduction of land tax.
It’s not on boys and girls.
Stamp duty at 1.3 per cent on a $500,000 block of land would cost $6500.
How about this for an idea, the state government cut the current stamp duty rate by 75 per cent. In context -stamp duty costing $40,000 today will cost $10,000 tomorrow.
A warning in the next state elections; do not vote for any party wanting to introduce land tax.
If you do, you will be taking money from your bank and depositing it in the accounts of greedy rich homeowners.

Pledges ring hollow
Bill Shorten’s pledge to instigate a Royal Commission into the banking Sector if elected is straight out of the desperate pollies’ play book.
Shelley Hancock did the same in pledging a Bay and Basin police station just before the last state election and we know how that has panned out. Shorten is engaging in good old class warfare whilst Hancock was simply being deceitful.
Both pollies, even though of a different ilk, have one thing in common and that is no money.
Fair dinkum, have they no shame as they seek their individual goals at the expense of an honorable cause?
So to all of my fellow voters the choice will be ours.
Call out this deceit for what it is and send both packing, with their papers marked never to return. It is as simple as that but the question is are we smart or courageous enough to do it?
