Ride organiser Paul Gaffney said the 2016 rode attracted 120 riders.
“We were down on last year’s numbers by 80 odd riders but it was still a success.”
The ride made a eye-catching sight as it left Nowra travelling to Batemans Bay.
A crowd assembled at the Shoalhaven City Council car park to look over the machines of various size, makes and models.
A 1969 Triumph Bonneville certainty attracted plenty of attention, while Harleys, a Can-Am Spyder, cruisers, trikes and even a scooter made the trek south.
Given right of way the the North Street and Princes Highway intersection the ride made a spectacular, if not a noisy exit from town.
The one day ride raises awareness of depression and suicide prevention and this year’s South Coast Ride supported headspace Nowra.
Located in North Street, headspace Nowra is home to a number of different medical professionals including psychologists, GPs (doctors) and youth worker who help young people (12-25) who are going through a tough time and help in many different ways.
“The ride went well, everyone seemed to enjoy it and thankfully the weather held out for us,” Mr Gaffney said.
“I certainly appreciate all the help and support local businesses, groups and individuals gave towards this year’s ride.
“It was great the police were able to help us with the traffic lights at the highway to let us all get out onto the road together, making for a great sight. They gave us an escort to well south of Nowra.
“I also appreciate the fantastic help from the girls at headspace who did a great job with the registrations.”
Arriving at Batemans Bay the local group was joined by 175 riders from Canberra.
“The Canberra ride was down a bit on numbers from last year as well,” he said.
Shoalhaven resident Alan Gill claimed second prize in the nation wide Black Dog Ride raffle, winning a BMW jacket valued at $750.
A final figure on the amount raised is yet to be finalised but the ride will be back on again next year with the date already set down for March 19.
