THE NSW Little Athletics Region 4 Championships were held on the weekend at Lake Illawarra. Region 4 is made up of Little Athletic Centres from Eastern Riverina Zone, Western Riverina Zone, Mid south coast zone and south coast highlands zone. These zones cover 31 individual athletic centres.

There was more than 70 Shoalhaven Little Athletics members who qualified to compete at these Regional Championships and a large number of these have now gone on to qualify for State Championships.
The first two place-getters in each event automatically qualify to progress to state and then the next best eight clear final performances across all regions, will be added. A full list of those who qualified will be posted to the Shoalhaven Little Athletics website as soon as it becomes available.
Some of the outstanding performances on the weekend included Samantha Peace in the field.
Samantha achieved a gold medal throw of 48.60m in the discus circle and another gold in shot put with a distance of 11.24m.
Annie Peace also took gold in the under 15 discus with a throw of 35.54m and Ebony Johnson took the silver with a 27.03m throw.
These two girls then backed up their performances in the shot put with Annie again taking gold and Ebony silver. Ebony then went on to win gold in the javelin.
More throwing gold medals came from Tyson Hart in the under 14 discus, shot put and javelin events. Emelia Matthews won silver in the under 13 javelin and Taj Hart won silver in the under 12s.
