Purple is one of the key Shoalhaven/Nowra Relay For Life colours and purple is the colour for hope.
Local business can help turn Nowra purple by encouraging staff to wear something purple and the Cancer Council can supply balloons and posters that can be displayed in shops.
Cancer council can also supply a donation boxes for shops counters and they encourage all community members to wear purple on this day.
Cancer Council’s Community Engagement Manager Terry Deegan said purple day was about helping to promote the Shoalhaven Nowra Relay for Life at theNowra Showground from Saturday April 2.
“The aim of turn Nowra purple is to raise awareness of the upcoming relay and the positive impact that Cancer Council NSW has within our community,” he said.
“As a result of funds raised from Relay For Life, Cancer Council NSW is able to provide transport to treatment for cancer patients via our patient transport vehicles and our Bay and Basin transport bus.
“Thanks to Relay For Life Cancer Council NSW has also been able to partner with AccorHotels to provide reduced rate hotel rooms for cancer patients, carers and immediate family in the Shoalhaven who need to travel to Sydney for treatment.
“Without the community support and participation in Relay For Life this as well as other valuable cancer support services would not be possible.”
