The white van first came to police attention at Sussex Inlet around 2.50pm, where the female driver was allegedly acting suspiciously.
The vehicle was next spotted on the Princes Highway, south of Nowra, with police starting a pursuit, which was called off shortly after.
The vehicle was seen in and around Nowra before being next seen by police in Berry.
Officers from the Lake Illawarra Command deployed road spikes to take out both tyres on the van’s passenger side as it raced northbound on the motorway at Bombo about 4.30pm.
Still it drove one, covering at least another five kilometres along Riverside Drive before the driver lost control on a bend and crashed into a wire fence on Swamp Road, Jamberoo.
She was arrested and has been taken into custody with a number of charges expected to be laid.
