The event has a long history, back to the sixties, when the sanctioning NSW club ran a class of car known as TQs and held the state title at venues such as Sydney's former Windsor Speedway.
“It promises to be a great title with drivers from Victoria and Queensland challenging the best from New South Wales,” a NSW Association spokesperson said.
One driver who looms as a pre-race favourite is Sydney's veteran campaigner Alan Day, who has logged more laps than anyone else in the field.
He has been in contention on several occasions and has come close to taking the top prize. He has come runner-up over the past two seasons.
Defending titleholder Rob Eyeington will put it all on the line, but he faces tough opposition from former NSW champions Rod Francis and Wayne Corbett, in addition to previous Australian titleholder Darren Dillon.
Current NSW Club Champion Craig Hickey has been plagued by mechanical problems earlier in the season, but is confident he will have his car performing better this weekend.
There are a number of form drivers in the NSW ranks who can stake legitimate 2016 state title claims.
Darren Margules, Adam Henry, Marty Perry, Tony Aulsebrook, Darren Hawksworth, Keiran Macklyn, Jason Essai and Gaby Yammouni are legitimate chances in the state title after showing winning form.
Victoria will be represented by the in-form Geoff Meyers from Shepparton.
The strong Queensland contingent also come into reckoning. The sunshine state has four drivers entered – Dave Swan, Wayne Corbett, Emma Harris and flyer Darren Dillon.
A big support programme also will be featured at Falcones Bread Nowra Speedway, with action provided by Super Sedans, Modified Sedans and National Four Cylinder Sedans.
Gates open at 4pm and the first race is at 6pm.
