The marlin have stuck around for the game anglers following on from the successful Bermagui Blue Water Classic that saw 78 marlin tagged and only two captured for weigh-in last month. 

It’s fantastic to see catch and release catching on and let’s hope all local fishing competitions move that way.

Bermi Bait and Tackle had footage on its Facebook page of local game boat Headhunter returning with 10 marlin flags – pretty good fishing for one day. 

Scotty reported that most marlin over the weekend were coming from The Kink south to the bottom of the 12 Mile Reef, and as an added bonus the dolphinfish were of good size again.

The kingfish in Wagonga Inlet also seem to be hanging around.

Young Narooma angler Will Tiffen appeared to be having some fun on the weekend judging by his photo on the Ocean Hut Compleat Angler Facebook page.

John Painter also caught a 60centimetre kingfish in the inlet using a nipper, proving they will take just about anything.

The prawn run in the Narooma area has ended with the opening of Corunna Lake on Monday.

The good news is fishing should improve in these lakes and there would have been some good sessions on the beach near the lake entrances after the rains.

And we know of at least one angler who got a nice mulloway on a Bermagui area beach. 

There have also been some posts of some great bream and whiting caught in Narooma and Bermagui lakes on surface poppers, so now is the time to target those flats.

Graham at Moruya Tackle World reports that there are some nice flatties being caught down the front of Moruya River on both soft plastics and live nippers.

Poddies with some whiting and bream also being caught in the back waters. 

The hospital area has been producing some nice bream around the rocks with flathead being caught after dark.

He and Jack had a great little session on Tuross Lake chasing bream on surface lures.

They used the Jackson Pygmy Popper around a rock bar up river and released eight bream and two flatheads in a couple of hours. 

The rocks and beaches are fishing well with some great whiting, flathead and bream using live beach worms.

Those chasing drummer and bream around Moruya heads used peeled prawns as bait.

Offshore, Graham reports some great reddies down around Murrimburah area out wide of the marine park with some great flatties both off the wind sock and down off Tuross.
