Work on the two significant local roads is being carried out over the next few weeks, with detours in place.
Council is upgrading the Browns Creek crossing at Quinns Lane and undertaking major road rehabilitation on the damaged pavement of Wallace Street, between Kalandar Street and St Anne Street.
The Quinns Lane project includes installation of a larger capacity drainage culvert crossing under the roadway, vegetation clearing and improvements to the creek cross-section.
The work aims to reduce the frequency that Quinns Lane floods with stormwater during rain.
Quinns Lane is closed to through traffic between January 4 and February 1, with a detour in place via Old Southern Road and Hillcrest Avenue.
Access to businesses on Quinns Lane from the Princes Highway is unaffected.
Work started on major road rehabilitation in Wallace Street on Monday.
The works involve the removal of the existing pavement and construction of a new bound pavement with an asphalt surface.
The works are scheduled to be undertaken between January 4 and February 18.
Detours and signage are in place during this time.
