The local based church had to find a new location to continue its community work after its premises, at the old roller skating rink on the Princes Highway in Bomaderry, was sold.
They will be soon moving into new facilities, at the old Bomaderry Public School in Birriley Street, and will be also using the nearby community hall.
Pastors Meg and Peter Dover are excited about the move.
While the they fond memories of their time in the old building they felt it was isolated but the new premises, being surrounded by houses and people, gives them the chance to give the community more support.
“We see the new building as becoming a connection point - a place where we can build up relationships and trust with the community,” Pastor Meg said.
Pastor Peter said while the are a church the help they give to the community comes with no strings attached and he agreed the location was perfect.
“Most people will be able to walk here,” he said.
The facility, once they move in, will be manned most days and there will be sign out the front with contact numbers so people can make contact when the building is not manned.
The two pastors have many ideas about the type of community programs they can introduce.
A mums and bubs group, community garden or a coffee mornings are just some of the programs they may introduce.
Their popular ‘Saltbox’ community gatherings will continue and the first one will be on Thursday February 4 from 10.30am to 1pm in the community hall.
Saltbox is one their most successful programs and brings people together for friendship and support.
The old public school building is owned by Shoalhaven City Council and is currently being leased by the St John Ambulance volunteers.
The St John volunteers are happy to share the building with Salt Ministries.
Pastor Peter said they did not need to do any work inside the building as it had recently been painted and was well maintained.
