The handbags were collected by Kylie Raynor as part of the Share the Dignity program aimed at bringing Christmas cheer to women in refuges and living on the streets.
“I am so proud of the Shoalhaven Community members who donated so generously,” Kylie said.
“I have been so humbled by the generosity and by the stories that I have heard from women who have either been in similar situations or just commenting on how they have never thought of homeless women and sanitary items.
“I think it has definitely sparked thoughts and imaginations into the world of homeless.”
The bags were distributed around the area including to the Homeless Hub, Nowra Youth Centre, RichmondPRA Nowra, Headspace (plus 10 sanitary purses), All Saints, The Junction, East Nowra Neighbourhood Centre, Nowra Family Support, Waminda, CareSouth Youth Support and the Women’s Health Centre who also distributed to SAHSSI and Links House.
