Cocktail dress was left to the individual and a fun array of ‘dinner suits’ and ‘cocktail dresses’ provided much laughter. Champagne cocktails and canapés were enjoyed as the sun set over the bay and club members were entertained by live music from Kevin Lord. All proceeds from the evening will be given to Jervis Bay Marine Rescue.
The party was preceded by the last race of the Spring Series. The weather was not promising early in the morning with rain, lumpy seas, poor visibility and strong winds. Fortunately the winds dropped as did the seas, the sun emerged and a great day of sailing was enjoyed.
Competition was stiff as the Spring Series results for each division were dependent on the outcomes of this race.
Alexander was first across the line in division one and also took handicap honours. In division two, Matana won on handicap but Motion was first across the line and had a great race.
Positions in division three remained constant throughout the race with Overture sailing beautifully to take line honours. Extasea won on handicap and also took out the Spring Series. Alexander and Motion were also victorious in the Spring Series division one and division two respectively.
The Summer Series of racing will begin on December 6. If you have a yacht and have thought about racing or cruising in company, see our website for further details: www.jbcyc.com.au.
