Many teams in this Cancer Council event are named in honour of local residents who did not win their battle against cancer.
One of the local teams is Bob's Brigade, named after Bob Gledhill, who was a well-known local and a supporter of relay for life.
Relay is held each year at the Nowra Showground and groups from the community form teams to take part in a fun and important event.
Mr Gledhill, two weeks after participating in the survivors walk at the 2013 relay, lost his battle with cancer.
Undaunted, Bob’s Brigade marches on and is committed to raise money for the relay for life.
Bob’s Brigade last year raised more than $6000 for the Cancer Council and they are set to raise more this year.
This Saturday, November 28 they will be holding a garage sale and cake stall from 8am to 12pm at 3 Neptune Place Worrigee.
Books, DVDs, toys, kitchen items, clothes, bric-a-brac and more will be on sale.
For just $2 people can get their face painted and don’t forget the loads of yummy cakes and slices.
Raffle tickets with the first prize being accommodation for two at Hyams Beach Hideaway will also be on sale.
This is an event not to be missed.
Meanwhile, the next local relay will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Nowra Showground over 24 hours starting 9.30am.
Go to www.cancercouncil.com.au/event/relay-for-life-shoalhaven-nowra-2016 to get more information on the event and also to enter a team.
More teams are also encouraged to sign up now and not to leave it to the last minute
Money raised at the relay provides funds for many local services like the Cancer Council Information Centre.

Relay funds also go the Cancer Council’s vital 13 11 20 line which is the central point of contact for all cancer questions and services.
Staffed by oncology professionals ready to provide support and answer all questions,
The 13 11 20 number is an information service available for everyone including cancer patient, their families, carers, friends, students and healthcare professionals.
