Gavin Nethery, Tim Devlin and Michael Thompson were the winners in the Optus Nowra Velo Club’s criterium races on the Albatross Aviation Tech Park on Sunday.

In the final 150 metres Nethery rounded up noted sprinters Steve Gendek and Aaron Lauder as he raced to a two-length margin over the line at the end of 40 minutes plus two laps in the division one event.
Devlin survived the attacks in division two to get to the line ahead of Phil Jones and Ian Kielly.
Thompson made it through the final corner ahead of Dave Grey and held on to a clear length on the line.
The division three 20 minutes plus two laps was first on the program and Grey was on the move early in the event.
The constant attacks and fast cornering from Grey split the field at half distance where Gary Bryce and Thompson joined Grey as they raced away towards the finish.
It is hard to get ahead of Grey through a corner but Thompson managed that on the final bend to be ahead by three lengths.
Thompson surged for the line with Grey chasing but not hard enough.
Bryce was close in third position then Jo Chalin took the bunch sprint for fourth ahead of Hubert Driehuis, Rod Pierce, Graham Johns, Alice Lauder and Bruce Jenkins.
Divisions one and two were combined for a 40-minute plus two lap race with the division two riders finishing after 30 minutes.
Levi Johns was on the move early in the race and the field strung out through the four corners of the circuit.
Mark Astley and Lauder closed down every move while some riders struggled at the back of the bunch.
With 30 minutes gone the division two riders sprinted over the line with Devlin leading Jones and Kielly. Scott Martin was fourth ahead of Brendon Miller and Andrew Lowe.
Division one riders had another 10 minutes to race and Astley drove the pace from the front to make if difficult before the finish.
Gendek took over through the final corner and was looking like a winner as he sprinted up the straight with Lauder challenging. Then Nethery raced from the back going straight past these battling rider for a clear win.
Astley finished fourth ahead of Johns.
The 2015 Ultimate Challenge continues for the Nowra Velo Club next Sunday with a handicap event on the Braidwood Road course.
You can expect another day of fast and keen racing with important points up for grabs.
This ninth round of the series will start from the Aviation Tech Park at 9am where the rostered officials with be the Bomaderry Vet Hospital/Coffeeliscious team.
