Facing a NSW side with 127 one-day international caps, the CA XI was always going to have a tough time, especially with a playing an 11 that had a total experience of 38 List A games.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, NSW put CA XI to the sword, plundering 338 runs at the expense of only three wickets.
It was the Blues’ third highest ever total in one-day cricket and was built on the back of centuries to Shoalhaven Heads’ Nic Maddinson and Steve Smith.
Smith and Maddinson put on a 153-run partnership before Maddinson fell for 108 off 120 balls.
Smith starred with an unbeaten 143 off 122 balls, before the CA XI were dismissed for 59 runs.
No team in Australia has ever lost a List A game by a larger deficit, the previous record was held by Tasmania, who lost by 219 runs in 1998 against Western Australia.
