Atkins said it felt awesome to take out carnival top shot again.
“Competition is getting fiercer each year, so to come away with the win is great,” he said.
“It’s also great to see the numbers of competitors increase each year.”
Atkins qualified in first place in the ADF representative skeet team and Dennis Walsh, of HMAS Watson, won the inaugural sporting shield, which helped Navy take out that team event.
“It’s was a tough week but I managed to make all three Navy sides, which was a personal goal that I was happy to achieve,” PO Atkins said.
“I’m looking forward to the police and services championships coming up and the NSW titles.
“We have some really good shooters, so hopefully we’ll do well.”
The overall tournament champion shot was Atkins with a score of 682/750.
Army took out first place with a score of 208/250 with Navy close behind on 200/250 and RAAF third on 176/250.
From October 28 to November 1 the Australasian Police and Services championships will be held at Wagga and the national titles will be early next year.
