An Erowal Bay resident contacted police about 10.10am on Sunday telling officers there was a hand grenade in his shed which had been there for about 70 years.
The man told police the grenade belonged to his deceased father, who served in the army many years ago.
He believed it had been using during training.
About 4.30pm Sunday, staff from the Army Ordnance Disposal Unit in Sydney attend the home and took possession of the hand grenade, which they will disposed of.
