It was perfect summer-like weather on Saturday for the official, public opening of the pool after its extensive renovations.
You could hear the screams of joy from Nowra Bridge as children tested the new Kid’s Play Park, a clear favourite.
The new main pool was packed and gleamed crystal blue in the sunshine.
Nowra Aquatic Park manager Shalissa Walter said Saturday’s high temperatures were the icing on the cake and if the same turn-out continued throughout summer, she expected it to be a massive season.
“Everyone has said they absolutely love it,” she said.
“We have about eight to 10 staff working on a busy day like today, between the fully-functioning cafe and as lifeguards.”
Young and old enjoyed either a picnic in the shade, a lie in the sun, some action in the new play park, a swim in the main pool or even tried out the new menu at the cafe.
Nowra Aquatic Park is open year round with changing times depending on the season. The summer opening hours are now in operation.
