As the weather warms up, risk of bushfires will increase in the area.
The Shoalhaven is an area prone to large fires, as experienced at Deans Gap in early 2013.
The Shoalhaven has been identified as one of many areas facing above normal fire potential for the 2015-2016 fire season, according to data released by the Bushfire Co-operative Research Centre.
The forecast is due to a combination of higher than average forecast temperatures leading to a rapid drying of forest fuels and significant grass growth after recent rains.
Residents are asked to prepare, check and update their Bushfire Survival Plan.
NSW Rural Fire Service provid information on creating plans as well as further advice on ensuring properties are fire safe.
In the event of a quick-spreading fire, residents need to be aware of their options and have a series of processes in place to ensure their survival.
