That evening we had a beautiful dinner at the Postman's Tavern in Junction/Berry Street. It was a Monday evening and there were only two other couples present.
When I went to pay for the dinner and drinks the maitre de said “it’s been taken care of.”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
She pointed to the end of the room.
“The couple who were sitting over there paid for you,” she said.
They are celebrating their 13th anniversary and when I happened to mention that you were celebrating your 47th they said they would like to cover your bill, with the hope that they too could reach 47.”
“They knew you would be grateful but they didn’t want you to come and thank them.”
