Local residents wanting to dispose of flood waste must bring proof of property address through either a rates notice or other identification to one of the area’s waste depots.

Since the start of the fee waiving last Friday council has been inundated with local residents disposing of flood related waste.

In the past five days Lake Conjola waste depot has received 103 tonnes of waste from 343 visits, Sussex Inlet 130 tonnes from 430 visits and Huskisson 169 tonnes from 485 visits.

Residents are also taking advantage of the free large bins placed in Shoalhaven Heads, Sanctuary Point, Sussex Inlet and Lake Conjola, which had already been emptied 10 times.

The large bins will also remain in place until Monday, while waste depots at Berry, Lake Conjola and Sussex Inlet will remain open every day until Monday to assist in the clean-up. 

Waste Depots at West Nowra, Huskisson and Ulladulla will also be open seven days as per normal.

Residents are able to use council’s kerb side collection service by contacting 4448 2403 for the collection of bulky goods but there is a fee for this service, although waste disposal vouchers can be used.
