The aim is to develop young people’s skills and give them the chance to boost their self-
confidence by completing a community project through the Youth Frontiers mentoring program.
Program coordinator Linda Hawkins said the students would develop and implement a civic project with the assistance of a volunteer mentor.
“The students will strengthen their community engagement as well as develop teamwork, communication, leadership and decision-making skills as they plan and complete their project under the guidance and support of their mentor,” she said.
The themes for the student projects include community harmony, youth mental health, sporting engagement, empowering young women, Centenary of Anzac and environment and conservation.
The Youth Frontiers program is an initiative of the NSW government and is being delivered by Workplace Learning Shoalhaven, a not-for-profit locally based organisation.
